At first glance, Hot Fuzz seems to be one of those British comedy films that have had a long history of success in North America (Like Mr.Bean and Borat). Looking at the trailers you would probably figure that it was a cop movie parody, but this movie packs more surprise then expected. It is about a police officer in London who is absolutely flawless at what he does. In fact, he is so flawless that the station he is working at is worried. They are all afraid that Sergent Angel will make them look bad and as a result they will loose their jobs. Angel is reassigned to a small town. This town seems to be perfect and boasts the lowest crime rate in Britain. But Angel isn't falling for the facade. As he is teamed up with a officer who is inferior to him in everyday, he teaches the officer obsessed with action that police work is not all about fighting. But this whole ideal is scrapped when Angel takes part in the longest action scene I have ever seen in my life!
As for the comedy... hmm, lets just say the humor of this movie is not what kept me watching. I don't know if its just because I'm not British, but I only found my self laughing three times at most during the whole movie. The movie was much more interesting than funny and that is probably the only reason I would recommend it. For some reason I couldn't stop watching the damn movie! Maybe this is the silent type of humor? I don't know, but whatever it was it kept me watching. I would definitely consider this movie entertaining but then again, it wasn't one of those spectacular movies that made you laugh your ass off. So for that I will give it a 3.5 out of 5. Watch it because you might understand the humor that I could not.
